Thank you for your interest in Columbus Avenue Baptist Church. If you are new to Waco or a first-time visitor to CABC, we welcome you! We hope you find this page helpful.
If you are searching for a church family where people truly love the Lord and each other, then Columbus Avenue is the place for you! There is a spirit of unity and commitment that has been evident in the life of this church for years. Because of this, we seek to lift up Jesus Christ as the Lord of life in all that we do, and we seek to give Him glory and praise for all that is done.
We have a great history of service, but we believe our greatest days are still ahead. We hope you will consider becoming a part of God’s future for our Columbus Avenue Baptist Church family.
WORSHIP SERVICES
Worship is our chance to express our love for God and receive encouragement and guidance for our daily lives. It is at the heart of everything we do as a church family. We believe true worship is a dynamic encounter with the Living God.
We seek to provide an atmosphere in which each member of the congregation is drawn into the worship process. Carefully and prayerfully planned worship services make use of many elements that help engage hearts in worship. Musical offerings, prayers, drama, readings of the Holy Scripture, congregational participation and Spirit-led preaching are all part of our worship services.
Sunday Worship Schedule
• 8:30 a.m. - Celebration Service in the Sanctuary • 9:45 a.m. - Bible Study (Bible Study Options) • 11:00 a.m. - Connection Service in the Sanctuary • 11:00 a.m. - Hispanic Service in The Center • 6:30 p.m. - Evening Worship Service
The Celebration service is a blended service with orchestra and choir. The Connection service is a contemporary service. The Hispanic service is an informal time of worship in Spanish. Evening worship is less formal and is a wonderful in-depth Bible study experience.
Wednesday Night Schedule
• 5:15 p.m. - Family Meal (no meal served from May - August) • 6:00 p.m. - Prayer Service
Our Wednesday night Prayer Service takes place in the Chapel. Each week, we have devotional thought followed by prayer time, either as a group or around individual tables. Reservations for the Family Meal can be made by calling the Church Office, (254) 752-1655, by noon each Wednesday.
HOW TO JOIN COLUMBUS AVENUE BAPTIST CHURCH
If you would like to join the church or if you have questions, please talk to a minister during the invitation time at the end of the service or call or come by the Church Office at your convenience.
There are several ways to join our church:
1. If you are a new Christian, you may join by profession of faith in Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior and as a candidate for baptism.
2. If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior and your previous church involvement has been in a non-Baptist church (Methodist, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Roman Catholic, etc.) you may join as a Christian from another denomination and as a candidate for baptism.
3. If you are currently a member of another Baptist church, you may join by transfer of letter for membership.
4. If you are a former Baptist or were baptized by immersion, you may join by statement of your faith.
5. If you are a college student and would like to join our family of faith during your time away from home, you may join Columbus Avenue by College Associate membership. This will allow you to be a member of our church while keeping your membership at your church back home.
If you have any questions or would like to speak to a minister, please call the Church Office at (254) 752-1655 or email us at churchstaff@cabcwaco.org.
GET CONNECTED
If you choose to join our church family, it is most important that you find your place of service and fellowship. We have periodic New Member/Prospect Luncheons just to help you get a glimpse of the overall ministries (including meeting our ministerial staff), understand how we “do church” and who we are as Baptists, examine our church budget, and briefly tour our facilities. Of course, the very best way for you to feel at home is to find the right Sunday School/Bible Study class for you and then fellowship and grow in understanding God’s Word with a group of individuals that identify with you and your family’s station in life.
